Who am I?

Wanted to introduce myself briefly.  I’m a 31 year old Product Manager at ChannelAdvisor Corporation.

I grew up in and around New Orleans until I was 18.  I lived in Arabi, LA until I was 3.  My parents then moved to New Orleans East which would become my home for the next 15 years.  On or around that time, my parents moved to Metairie which is just a smidge outside New Orleans.  Actually from their home in Old Metairie you can get to downtown NO quicker than from New Orleans East, cher.

If you’re from New Orleans, the first question anyone will ask is "where did you go to school?" And in New Orleans, they are asking about your high school not college,  because high schools in New Orleans have a rich tradition.   I went to Holy Cross High School and graduated from there in 1992.

I went to Vanderbilt University and got my BS in Electrical Engineering in 1996.  During college I was the only person in the Engineering school on the Debate Team (CEDA in college.  Debated cross-ex in High School).  This gives me my background talking to people unlike normal engineers which shun human contact and live in dark caves :-)   It’s the reason I love research.  There’s nothing I love more than searching for that perfect piece of information for weeks and finally coming across it.

About halfway through my undergraduate career I started working at the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Vanderbilt.  As a result of this work, I got a scholarship to Graduate School at Vanderbilt and ultimately completed my Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1998.  During grad school, I was working for that laboratory.

As you can imagine, I’ve always been a techie.  I moved to North Carolina in 1998 where I have a wife, 2 cats, and 1 dog.  You can see more of my dog in my Flickr pictures.  More to come, but later…..
