Skype over broadband… simply. Announced at CES

My goal in life achieved! Finally!
Now all I need is nationwide broadband. I think Verizon is the closest now, but to me the definition of irony would be Google enabling nationwide wireless broadband over which you would run Skype and other telephony apps.
Am I wrong?

You’re not wrong about the Google irony part. But you are mistaken if you think Verizon is going to offer nationwide wireless broadband in a way that allows Skype. They don’t allow you to transfer your own music or ringtones - you have to buy over the air from them. They disable bluetooth for file transfers and syncing - you have to buy from them. Will they allow free packetized voice so you don’t have to buy voice minutes from them? Doubt it.
