Phone Service: Skype? Cell? None?

We are struggling with what to do with our own local phone situation right now…. what to do?

- Over a year ago we switched to Time Warner Digital Phone, which has been way cheaper than just a regular phone.  We haven’t had any complaints, but still find ourselves never using the regular phone.  We pretty much only use our cell phones.

- I thought about getting SkypeIn, but I’m not certain we need it right now.

… so what I think we will probably do is just cancel even the Time Warner phone and go without.  If/when I can get something like: Verizon Broadband + some kind of Skype-enabled Windows portable device, that would be the heat.  Then the cell phone would go away too.

Some more details around this.

Scot and ChannelAdvisor sellers were on an SG Cowen panel.  Notice how Nir Hollander says that he would integrate Skype into his business.  Nir is a high volume eBay seller who sellers high ASP item: jewelry.  This goes along with my earlier thought that high ASP sellers would be much more willing to adopt Skype as a service.

Other sellers aren’t as thrilled about the "Power of 3" that eBay mentions so often in their recent presentations.

Update: Home phone officially unplugged.  Telemarketers of the world sigh.
